Conti - Done Once, Done Right

Done Once, Done Right

Wind Turbine Generator

Conti is collaborating with GE, one of the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturers, on this construction project to assure top quality work.

The Challenge

With their ambitious project, Bayshore Regional Sewerage Authority (BRSA) is constructing the 1.5 MW, 60 Hz wind turbine generator as an alternate source of energy. The publically owned wastewater treatment plant treats 16 million gallons of wastewater per day and consumes roughly 7,500,000 kilowatt hours of power per year, highlighting the need for a more cost-efficient method of power generation. The WTG is predicted to reduce the $1 million spent per year by the BRSA in electricity costs. Installation would require the erection of all wind turbine machinery.

The Solution

The Conti Group has adapted to challenging site logistics to bring solutions to the BRSA. A detailed route survey has been meticulously performed so that the turbine components can be safely and successfully delivered to the site from various manufacturing locations around the country. A great deal of planning and coordination by the project team has been underway for the successful erection of the WTG.

Scope of Work

  • Erection of all wind turbine components
  • Balance of plant construction
  • Electrical work
  • SCADA integration
  • System interconnection with JCP&L’s grid
